Zion Christian School Team Golf Marathon

What is the Classic 100 Team Golf Marathon?
It is an incredibly fun event, which will raise some serious bucks for Zion Christian School. It is a way for Participants, duffers, low handicappers and non-golfers alike, to rally support while doing something they will really enjoy. When compared to a traditional golf tournament, team golf marathons are more fun and substantially more profitable.

Here's the fun part (and remember you are not required to play golf):

Yes, your team will play 100 holes. No, we're not kidding. One hundred holes are very doable. Many Participants in past marathons have been able to play more than 100 holes individually. In fact, the record for one player in a golf marathon is an amazing 409 holes in one day! Several changes in the format of the game are made to speed up the play...

  • All Participants play in carts.
  • Participants hit multiple balls on the par three holes, and each ball counts as one hole played.
  • We play "ready golf" with a maximum field of 36 Participants on the course in the AM Marathon. There will also be a PM marathon.
  • No looking for lost balls, OB's etc. Merely drop another ball and keep hitting.
  • Whenever your score on a hole reaches triple bogey, pick up, score the hole as completed, and move on to the next hole.
  • Play begins with a shotgun start and most teams finish in less than five hours.
  • On the green, any putt inside the leather is a "gimme."
  • There will be “Longest Drive”, “Closest-to-Pin”, and other contests to add more fun.

Did you say I don’t have to be a golfer to play a big part in this Campaign?
That is correct. You do not need to be a golfer. Our main purpose is to raise funds for Zion Christian School. You can make a significant difference in our outcome by joining us and just soliciting pledges matching you personal donation. It is that simple. We need Participants just like YOU! Please join the fun. The joy is in seeing lives impacted because of the generosity of others. And you can win this tournament without playing a single hole of golf. Our winner raises the most donations!

What's In It for Me?
Besides a lot of fun and the satisfaction of helping Zion Christian School in a big way, you will receive...

  • Lunch and refreshments.
  • Plenty of golf balls to smack away and other golfer appreciation gifts.
  • The opportunity to earn some great prizes, depending on the amount of pledges that you have raised.
  • A tax write-off for any donated funds.

Ok, What's the Catch?
Well, there really isn't any catch. Each Participant who fundraises in the campaign will be asked to do 3 things.

  • Give your time & play golf with your teammates, or if you don’t play golf, join us for lunch.
  • Sponsor yourself for at least $1 per hole that your team will play. Your $100 donation is payable in advance and is tax deductible.
  • Solicit sponsorships from business associates and friends with a personal goal of raising an additional $24 per hole...that amounts to $2,500 each Participant can raise for this most worthwhile cause. So, you can see with a field of 72 Participants, each raising $2,500, we could surpass our goal of $100,000. WOW!

Ok, "Gimme" the Details
The Zion Christian School Golf Marathon will be played at the Ridgecrest Golf Course, with the location details to follow in up coming newsletters. The Team Golf Marathon will give you an opportunity to play on a nice golf course, and with your teammates complete 100 holes of golf in one day! Our day's agenda will be something like this...

  • A breakfast or lunch depending on our start time.
  • Shot gun start.
  • Flail away for your portion of at least 100 holes as a team.
  • A Team Marathon is played in a few rounds on the golf course with everyone playing a few extra shots in about three hours.
  • Go home, brag a little, and rub on some Ben Gay!
  • Smile a lot - you've done a great thing today!

But I Still Have Some Questions

Good! Pick up the phone and give us a call. Zion Christian School Board is not only organizing this event, but we are going to play as well!  Angela Winbigler will be serving as Player Captain of the campaign and believes wholeheartedly in the mission and vision of Zion Christian School and is dedicated to this campaign's success.
